SRINAGAR: Authorities today have put former Chief Minister and People’s Democratic Party President Mehbooba Mufti under house arrest while PDP’s Najmu Saqib and Suhail Bukhari have also been arrested, Mehbooba said in a tweet.
“Again under house arrest and PDPs @SAAQQIB & @Suhail_Bukhari too have been arrested. The pattern of using innocent civilians as human shields & then denying their families the right to a decent burial shows that GOI has plumbed new depths of inhumanity.”

“Their narrative right from the start was based on lies to escape accountability. They don’t want to be held accountable for their actions and that’s why they are muzzling voices that speak up against such injustice,” she tweeted.

Yesterday, Mehbooba Mufti was allegedly stopped from joining the families of slain civilians who were protesting at Press Colony for return of the bodies.
On her return from Jammu PDP President @MehboobaMufti was on way to press colony to console with the family & participate in the protest, but police blocked the route & did not allow her to move towards protest site. Is demanding the dead body of civilians a crime now? https://t.co/GCq9L96XVQ
