SRINAGAR

Peoples Democratic party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti Friday visited Kandiwara Kokernag to meet the
families of the children who lost their life in yesterday’s tragic road  accident . She extended her heart felt condolences to the families,  and prayed for their strength to bear this huge loss of life of their dear ones .

Earlier she also visited various hospitals in srinagar to inquire about the condition of the injured children  and offered all possible help for the treatment .

Mehbooba  while interacting with the people at Kandiwara said,  that to avoid such accidents in future the government should take up the widening of the Mohripora Kandiwara road on priority , and also construct a bridge to connect Kandiwara village to Khalhard/sagam .

The area also needs a proper health facility which could take care of the general health problems of the people, and also be useful in unfortunate situations like the accident that happened yesterday . She also asked the government that while offering compensation to the families of the deceased, special attention should be given to those poorest of the poor .

“Those families who had educated their children up to 9th or 10th class with great hardships hoping for   a better
future, have suddenly lost   that hope with their death in this fatal accident , such cases need to be taken more seriously by the government,” Mehbooba said.

She urged the government that besides the financial aid announced , they should also  provide free of cost medical treatment to the injured students as majority of them are in very serious condition and will require surgeries .
