Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday visited Kreeri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district and offered her condolences to the bereaved family of slain journalist Shujaat Bukhari on Eid eve.

The Chief Minister spend some time with the family and talked to them offering her condolences. She also assured them that a through probe will be conducted to get to the root of the killing.

Notably, the editor of Rising Kashmir’ and his two personal security officers (PSOs) were shot dead by unknown gunmen in press colony Srinagar on Thursday evening.

Bukhari, 50, was gunned down soon after he got into his SUV from his office at Press Enclave in the city centre, Lal Chowk.

Police on Friday arrested a suspect in connection with the killing of veteran journalist Shujaat Bukhari and two of his PSOs.

The suspect was identified as Zubair Qadri, Inspector General (IG) Kashmir Swayam Prakash Pani said at a hurriedly called press conference.

Bukhari was laid to rest at his native village on Friday as thousands of mourners joined the funeral procession.
