NC Vice President Omar Abdullah on Tuesday said it would have been great had Mehbooba Mufti resigned the moment, BJP summoned its minister to Delhi. He said his party cannot celebrate the imposition of governor’s rule and would seek early election so that people will choose their government.

“In the last, I told Mehbooba many times, please go,” Omar told reporters after the BJP pulled the rug out of the coalition floor. “Had she resigned earlier, she would have moved with some kind of dignity intact but she did not and was finally shunted out.”

“She should have submitted her papers the moment BJP flew its ministers to Delhi but she was busy in the office,” Mehbooba said. “They finally pulled the rug from her feet,” Omar said. He said the BJP and PDP were clung to power though they knew the situation has turned bad.

Omar ruled out the possibility that he would make an effort to form the government. “Governor Vohra would be completing ten years in Jammu and Kashmir on June 25. We should trust his wisdom and see how he will restore people’s government at the earliest,” Omar said. He said he does not know what the compulsions were for the fall of the coalition. But he insisted that the situation had turned bad.
