Srinagar

A grab from the video.

A heartbreaking video has surfaced and is trending on social networking sites where a veiled lady is weeping and demanding the attention of people towards the ‘ill treatment’ of patients at the psychiatric hospital in Kathi Darwaza,  Srinagar.

In video, the lady is pleading for help, for mentally unsound patients who are at the mercy of hospital management.

While weeping and asking for the help, the lady is alleging the staff members and security officials of mistreating and beating the mentally unsound patients at the hospital.

The lady is also alleging that the patients are not getting medicines and treatment on time rather they are beaten every time and are kept in very pathetic conditions.

She is also heard describing the management of the hospital as ‘Goonda Raaj.’

“The parents of the patients are not aware of the treatment their kids get at the hospital rather they are thinking they are treated there. But the fact is that they are being abused and beaten in the hospital,” veiled lady alleges.

Following this allegation, a committee of four officials has been constituted by the medical superintendent of the hospital to enquire the allegations made in the video within three days.

As per the order copy, Dr Shabir Ahmad Dar, deputy medical superintendent, will be the chairman of this committee, Dr Yasir Hassan Rather, assistant professor as one member, Dr Abinah Nawaz, medical officer store as another member and advocate Shazia as the legal aid member.
