SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir is likely to experience brief spells of light rain and light snowfall over higher reaches on Saturday, while predominantly dry weather is expected through October 22, the Meteorological Centre Srinagar has forecast.
Centre director Mukhtar Ahmad said the weather was expected to remain generally dry on October 11 and 12, following the possibility of light precipitation on October 10.
Cloudy conditions are likely on October 13 and 14, with light rain, snowfall over higher reaches, thunderstorms and gusty winds forecast at many places across the Union Territory.
The weather is expected to remain largely dry on October 15 and 16, though a few places may receive brief spells of light rain. Generally dry conditions are likely to continue from October 17 to 22.
Ahmad advised farmers to carry on with harvesting and ensure the safe storage of apples and paddy already harvested. He also warned of possible thunderstorms and gusty winds on October 10 and October 13-14.
The forecast comes days after severe hailstorms, heavy rain and gusty winds struck parts of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, causing extensive damage to apple orchards and standing crops ahead of the harvest season.
