As the state weather department Saturday predicted more snow and rainfall from March 15, the state administration claimed that it is ready to face the challenge.

According to a weather department handout fresh Western Disturbances over J&K and adjoining areas is likely to affect the state from 15th March (Saturday) to 18th March 2014 (Tuesday). The weather department has said, “Under the influence of this weather system, moderate to rather heavy rain/snow would occur at many places on 15 and 16 March and at most places on 17 and 18 March.”

“We are fully prepared. We have to face this challenge. District administrations across valley has been directed to remain alert,” said Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Shalinder Kumar adding that rather than being scared of the situation, administration shall have to face it as a challenge with the brave heart.

However, he stated that the people must cooperate with the administration so that better mechanism could be adopted vis-a-vis the post snowfall situations. Commenting over the water logging in various areas of summer capital- the divisional commissioner said the administration has taken all the necessary measures to tackle the problem and that the common masses must come forward to tell the administration what better can be done. “Yes, people must tell us what measures we should take. On our side we took all the steps to tackle with the problem of water logging.”
