SRINAGAR: The meteorological department (MeT) on Thursday predicted widespread moderate snowfall, rain in Kashmir from January 4 .

Sonam Lotus, Director of Meteorological Department, said, as of now, widespread snow/rain spell of moderate intensity is most likely during January 4 to January 6 in both J&K and Ladakh.

Gulmarg in north Kashmir the famous tourist place was the coldest place in the Valley where minimum temperature was minus 9.6 degrees.

Srinagar, the summer capital of the state recorded a low of minus 4.0 while the mercury in Qazigund in south Kashmir settled at a low of minus 4.2 degrees Celsius.

The night temperature in Pahalgam a famous tourist resort–settled at a low of minus 8.9 degrees.

Kokernag town recorded a low of minus 3.6 degrees Celsius while Kupwara town in north Kashmir registered a low of minus 4.4 degrees Celsius last night.

Jammu city recorded 5.9 degrees Celsius, Katra 5.0, Batote 0.5, Banihal recorded 2.6 and Bhaderwah recorded minus 1.6 degrees Celsius as the night’s lowest temperatures.
