Pattan: Scores of contractual employees of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) on Wednesday staged a protest in North Kashmir’s Pattan town for demanding Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti’s intervention to seek regular jobs.

Employees assembled in premises of Block Development Office, Pattan and protested against what they called ‘Government’s non serious attitude’ towards them.

The angry protestors said they have been serving Rural Development Department from past nine years. They said that the Government assured them job policy from time to time but till date they were not given a single written assurance.

They appealed chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti Mufti to look into it as according to them the concerned Minister has failed to fulfill their demands.

“We the employees demand intervention of Honorable Chief Minister in our issue, otherwise we will take to streets as the minister has delayed and betrayed us by making fake promises till date”, they said.
