SRINAGAR: While only 3000 of the recently inducted paramilitary men will go home, the centre has agreed to get the rubber bullet emerge as a priority weapon to manage the situation. But that is not the only thing that has been discussed in Delhi in recent days.

Newspaper reports suggest that Home minister and Ajit Doval has a long meeting in which they reviewed the situation on ground and discussed various options to approach the situation. Ajit Doval is the National Security Adviser and a general belief is that it has been Doval doctrine at play in Kashmir for last more than two years. Doval is a hawk on Pakistan and Kashmir front.

The meeting is understood to have discussed the participation in the just concluded first phase of polls. Not many people participated in the elections and the overall participation remained slightly more than 7 percent.

“During the meeting it was discussed whether peace dialogue with any separatist groups wielding influence on the protesters could be initiated,” the newspaper Hindustan Times reported. “However, the idea of dialogue hit a deadlock as no group could be identified in breaking the cycle of violence that has engulfed the Valley since July 8 last year when militant group Hizbul Mujahideen’s poster boy, Burhan Wani, was gunned down during an encounter in south Kashmir.” Interestingly, Home Minister Rajnath announced recently that Kashmir will change within next one year.

Interestingly, the Monday’s security meeting discussed how to deal with the series of videos which portray security forces in a bad light. “Sources said the authenticity of the videos are also a matter of serious question as many of them were posted in social media sites from Pakistan,” the newspaper added. “Security brass also discussed the reports of “deep planning” in Pakistan to vitiate the atmosphere in the Kashmir Valley and incite insurgents to target local police personnel and their families, the sources said.
