The incarcerated Muslim League Chairman Masrat Alam Bhat has felicitated Mian Abdul Qayoom on being elected as President Jammu Kashmir High Court Bar Association. He also congratulated Aijaz Ahmad Bedar and Muhammad Ashraf Bhat on being elected Vice-Chairman and general Secretary of the association.
According to ML spokesperson, Masrat while terming the success of Mian Abdul Qayoom as “the success of freedom movement” hoped the newly elected Bar President will continue to provide legal assistance to those languishing in jails in connection with freedom movement.
“I hope that Mian Qayoom will personally take a visit to jails and take cognizance of the plight of prisoners there. They (prisoners) are neither provided good amount of food nor do they enjoy any medical facilities,” the spokesperson while quoting Masrat Alam in a statement issued to Global news Service (GNS) said.
Meanwhile, Muslim League has supported the shutdown call given by Hurriyat Conference (G) Chariman Syed Ali Geelani.
