After joining Hizbul Mujahideen ranks in 2015, Farooq Ahmad Sheikh died in a brief encounter with forces in the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.
A resident of Nazneenpora, gun battle erupted late Monday night in adjoining Pehlipora.
He is survived by father, mother, wife and two children.
A father of two, late Farooq’s son studies in class fourth while his three year old daughter is suffering from a heart problem.
Militant outfit Hizbul Mujahideen Tuesday paid rich tributes to Farooq Ahmad.
Terming it as “set back to the outfit”, Hizb said, “Farooq Ahmed attained martyrdom before injuring many Indian troopers at Pehlipora Shopian. He was affiliated with Hizb and active in Jammu and Kashmir.”
