SRINAGAR: Police on Saturday arrested a militant in Sopore area of baramulla district in north Kashmir.
The police spokesman in a statement said that on a credible input police and security forces arrested a militant identified as Danish Tariq Channa, a resident of Stadium Colony, Baramulla from Sopore area.
Incriminating material including arms and ammunition were recovered from his possession. All these incriminating materials have been taken into records by police in order to probe his complicity in terror crimes.
According to the police records he was affiliated with proscribed outfit LeT and was operating in the areas of Sopore and Baramulla. He was a part of groups involved in planning and executing attacks in the area.
Several cases are registered against him including a crime case FIR No. 167/2019 pertaining to firing on civilians in Baramulla.
The active mlitant remains in police custody and further investigation in the matter is in progress.
