SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir police on Monday claimed to have arrested a militant associate of proscribed outfit JeM and recovered incriminating materials from his possession.

A police spokesman in a statement said that based on specific information regarding the presence of militants of proscribed outfit JeM in village Larow Jagir Tral, Police along with 42RR and 180Bn CRPF launched a search operation in the area.

The spokesman said that during the search one associate of proscribed outfit JeM identified as Muzamil Qadir Bhat resident of Larow Jagir Tral was arrested.

“Incriminating material of proscribed outfit JeM has been recovered from his possession. On his discloser one hand grenade was also recovered which he had concealed in the compound of his home,” said the spokesman.

“Preliminary investigation reveals that the arrested associate was in contact with militant commanders of JeM in Tral and across the country. All the recovered materials have been taken into case records for further investigation,” he said.

“Accordingly, a case FIR No 13/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Tral and further investigation has been initiated,” said a police spokesman in a statement.
