SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested a militant assiciate with arms and ammunition in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

A police spokesman in a statement said that on September 1, 2022 at around 1330 hrs, on the basis of specific information regarding movement of one militant associate,  police Party of Ananthnag Police and party of  3rd Rashtriya Rifles laid a Naka at Hutmara sandoz crossing.

The spokesman in a statement said that one suspected individual approached towards the Naka party from Chak Hassan Abad.

He said that on seeing the Naka party the suspect started fleeing away in opposite direction.

The party assessed the situation and displayed extreme restraint and fire control in not opening fire, he added.

“The security forces chased and overpowered the suspect , preventing him from opening fire thus apprehended him,” said the spokesman.

He said that on searching the individual one Pistol and one magzine and Six live rounds were recovered which was planned to be used for targeted killing.

“The militant associate was identified as
Fazial Ah Wagay S/o Mushtaq Ah Wagay R/o Chak Hassan Abad, Hutmara Anantnag,” he added.

In this regard Case FIR No 78/2022 U/S 7/25 Arms Act 16,18,39 UAPA registered in Police Station Mattan, Anantnag and further investigation is going on, said police spokesman in a statement.
