SRINAGAR: Kishtwar Police detained a militant associate, Abdul Karim Butt, son of Mohd Anwar Bhat, resident of Badhat Saroor, Tehsil Drabshalla, District Kishtwar, under the provisions of the Public Safety Act (PSA) on Thursday.
Bhat is the brother of hardcore militant, Jahangir Saroori.
A senior police officer informed news agency KS that the detained militant associate was previously involved in anti-national activities and has been booked under the provisions of the UAPA Act.
He is currently facing trial in the NIA court, and his current activities are prejudicial to the security of the country. Additionally, his free movements in society create circumstances that could radicalise youth.
Consequently, he has been detained under PSA and is now lodged at District Jail Kishtwar. The Public Safety Act empowers law enforcement authorities to take necessary measures to ensure public safety and security.
