Militant attack on police was desperate: DGP

The state police Chief K Rajendra Tuesday termed the recent attacks on JK police personnel as a ‘mere desperation’, saying police would tackle the situation with more vigil on ground.

Talking to KNS, the DGP said the desperation of the militants could be ascertained by the fact that they have made unarmed police men as their target who were out on duty to investigate a civil case in the area on Monday.

He maintained that police will take all necessary measures to prevent such kind incidents in future and a pro longed strategy is being adopted in this regard.

He said the unarmed police men were the soft targets of the militants but the security agencies are mulling to take needed measures so that preventive measures are taken in future. “JK police is serving the state of Jammu and Kashmir since decades in the best of its abilities. It has rendered immense sacrifices for the people of the state. It has worked all front and at all times whenever people were in desperate crises.”

Meanwhile, reports informed that a high level meeting took place at Anantnag on Tuesday which was presided over by the DGP and all security agencies took part in the meet.  It was later discussed at threadbare that what measures would be taken to keep a close vigil on ground to avoid such militant threats in future.

Reports also informed that the DGP arrived in Valley on Monday to assess the situation on ground after the three militant attacks in north and south Kashmir which killed three police personnel. Late in the evening on Monday, a high level security meet was convened at PCR Srinagar wherein the ground situation and latest measures were discussed, reports informed KNS
