SRINAGAR: One militant was killed in an encounter between security forces and militants in the Gurwatkalan area of Budgam district late Tuesday evening, officials said.
A top police officer said that the operation was launched after security forces established contact with the militants in the area.
He said a joint operation is underway, with security forces having killed one militant.
The area has been cordoned off and additional security forces have been rushed to the site. (KNO)
