The militant killed in a gunfight with the government forces in Dalwach Qazigund area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district was affiliated with Lashkar-e-Toiba outfit, officials said.
The slain was identified as Mohammad Asif Malik son of Mohammad Naseem Malik a resident of Khahgund Dooru.
The slain was killed during a pre-dawn encounter at Dalwach Qazigund in Kulgam.
“Operation was launched based on specific information. We have lost one soldier and one militant has been killed in the operation,” a senior police officer told NDTV.
Meanwhile, Internet services in Islamabad have been suspended by the authorities for the precautionary reasons.
