A militant was killed during a gunfight with the counter insurgent forces at Narwani area in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Friday morning.
A police official said that a gunfight broke out between the militants and the counter insurgent forces in Narwani area of Imam Sahib during the wee hours of Friday.
He said that counter insurgent forces laid a siege around the area following inputs about the presence of militants in the area.
“The militants hiding in the area opened fire on the forces and the later returned the fire immediately which led to an encounter,” the official said.
In the ensuing encounter, he said, one militant was killed whose identity was being ascertained. He said arms and ammunition were recovered from the site of the gunfight.
