Day after the Prime Mininster, Narendra Modi’s Kashmir visit a militant was killed and a soldier injured in an encounter on Saturday in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, sources said.
Police soirces said that security forces including police, Rashtriya Rifles and the CRPF cordoned off Aaripal village in Tral following specific information about the presence of a group of militants hiding there.
They added that when the security forces zeroed in on a house where the militants were hiding, they came under heavy gunfire from the militants, resulting in injuries to a Rashtriya Rifles personnel.
“The security forces retaliated and killed a militant,” they said.
Reports said that while the encounter was still going on massive protests erupted in Aaripal near the encounter spot. Reports said police used teargas shelling to quell the protesters.
