Srinagar

Normal life remained paralyzed in Bandipore district of north Kashmir for the fifth consecutive day today, against the killing of five militants during an encounter.

Reports said that all the shops and business establishments remained closed in the district. However, a thin movement of private vehicles is being witnessed on roads.

Earlier, five militants were killed in a two-day long gun battle in Sumlar area of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

The army had already said that slain militants were non-locals. However, a Hizb Operational Spokesperson Burhanuddin told news agency CNS that those killed in the gunfight were locals. “It was a group comprising five members who got trapped in Sumlar area and were killed in a long gunfight,” Burhanuddin said.
