Adil Ahmed, the LeT militant from South Kashmir’s Pulwama district was laid to rest at his ancestral grave yard at Bandarpora of the district while reports said that his brother Shafat Ahmed who is also a militant participated in his last rites.

Eyewitnesses told CNS that earlier when the body of the slain militant Adil Ahmed reached at his native village, five to six armed militants “appeared” in the village and paid tributes to their slain militant friend. Eyewitnesses said that the militant brother of the slain militant also participated in his last rites that were attended by thousands of people on Monday.

“The armed militants thanked people for helping them to break the forces cordon. They didn’t allow people to take their videos on mobile phones and even sought support for Kashmir Cause,” locals of Bandarpora said.

According to locals, Adil Ahmed Wagay son of Abdul Gani of Bandarpora village belonged to a well-to-do-family who had joined militant ranks one and a half year ago. “Adil’s joining created problems for his brother Shafat Ahmed and he was frequently ‘forced’ to present himself before the officers at different forces camps. This made his life hell and some six months ago he left the home and joined the militant outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba,” relatives said.
