Police on Wednesday said that the three militants killed in a gunfight with forces in Gulab Bagh village of Tral in Pulwama district were locals.
“The three militants killed in a gunfight with forces have been identified as Zahid Ahmed Bhat from Nawdal Tral, Ishfaq Ahmed from Batgund Tral and Ashraf Dar from Trich Pulwama,” a police official said.
The three were killed in a brief shootout with the forces after encountering each other in the village.
Meanwhile, soon after the news about the killing of three militants spread in Pulwama, scores of youth hit the streets and pelted stones on forces triggering intense clashes in the southern town.
Reports of clashes have also reached from Gulab Bagh and Tral areas as well. Authorities have snapped internet services in the district.
Police said that the operation in Gulab Bagh was still going on.
