Terming the ‘militarization of entire Jammu and Kashmir’ as the main obstacle in way of solving Kashmir  issue, Hurriyat (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has said the government claims that normalization has returned to Kashmir are baseless and contrary to the ground realities.

Adressing a large gathering at historic Jamia Masjid, Mirwaiz said instead of demilitarisation more troops are being inducted in Jammu and Kashmir. He said at many places new pickets, camps and bunkers were being constructed to ‘strengthen the occupation’ due to which the situation has ‘worsened’.

Quoting an instance (M) Chairman said that residents of Wuyan Pulwama protested against the establishment of the military camp and demanded its immediate removal- a demand which stands justified. He said, “Demilitarisation of troops should be initiated from rural and urban areas since it were the main cause of bloodshed of Kashmiris.”

Demanding immediate withdrawal of troops from Kashmir, he said, “Kashmiris felt extremely insecure due to militarisation. And if Kashmir issue has to be solved it was imperative that demilitarisation should take place. He said it would also help in creating conducive atmosphere which would ultimately lead towards conflict resolution.”

While responding to the court decision to shift Zahid Farooq case to civil court, Mirwaiz said, “Impartial probe should be conducted to investigate Kunanpora mass rape case, Chittisingh pora massacre, Shopian and other hundreds of similar incidents.”

Expressing serious concern over the supply of spurious drugs to hospitals, Hurriyat (M) Chairman said that a complete probe should be conducted by the checking committees into the fake medicine scandals. He lambasted the state government over not setting up a drug testing laboratory in the state. “It is  unfortunate that the government which spends crores of rupees on aero planes and helicopters has no money for setting up a laboratory for setting up a drug testing laboratory”, the Mirwaiz said according to  a local news agency, KNS. He said the prominent doctors and civil committees members should become part of such probe committees.

Mirwaiz said that there was a nexus between medical representatives of private drug companies and doctors. He said the medical representatives were giving expensive gifts and other privileges to the doctors to sell their spurious drugs to the patients. He said such a nexus has to be exposed and probed so that guilty are booked and nobody plays with the lives of patients.

He said spurious drugs were being sold to patients under different names and government was just acting as a mute spectator. He said, “Government has failed at all levels. The government claims that crores of rupees were spent on account of public exchequer to check the genuine of drugs was a naked lie.” He said everything happened under the nose of authorities.

The Chairman lauded the local press for exposing the fake drug scandal.  He said it was due to the efforts of the local media that public was getting aware about the social, economic and political issues concerning Jammu and Kashmir.
