SRINAGAR: Kashmir teacher-turned-preacher, Sofi Abdul Rehman passed away at 4 pm today, informed sources said, He was 85 plus.
A resident of Ganderbal, Sofi was a school teacher. Post-retirement, he remained active in preaching and other social work. He was the main preacher at the mosque adjoining the Qamar Sahab Shrine at Ganderbal. He was a founding member of Minhaj ul Quran International India Kashmir.
Family sources said he was unwell for some time and finally breathed his last today at around 4 pm. He is survived by his wife, four daughters and two sons. Reports said his funeral prayers are being offered and he is likely to be laid to rest before Iftaar.
