SRINAGAR: Two minor sisters died after being bitten by a snake at Manma Barmari village in the Kalakote subdivision of Rajouri district on Sunday, officials said.
Quoting an official, the news agency KNO reported that the sisters were sleeping in a room along with other family members when a snake appeared on the bed and bit both of them.
The sisters were immediately shifted to a hospital for treatment, where they succumbed, the official said.
The deceased were identified as Amiba, 5, and Amiza, 3, both residents of Rajouri.
Meanwhile, an investigation has been initiated into the incident, officials said.
