SRINAGAR: Police have solved a hit-and-run case in Kokernag area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district by arresting the accused and seizing the vehicle allegedly involved in the incident, days after it occurred.
According to police, the incident took place on September 6, when a person identified as Tariq Ahmad Khalas, son of Mohammad Sharief Khalas, a resident of Shalnad Lisser, was killed.
In connection with the incident, FIR No. 133/2026 was registered at Police Station Kokernag under Sections 281 and 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Police said the accused, identified as Mohd Ashraf Bhat, son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, a resident of Naikpora, Kulgam, has been arrested. The vehicle allegedly involved in the incident has also been seized.
The case was solved under the supervision of SDPO Kokernag, with SHO Kokernag leading the investigation.
Further investigation into the case is underway. (GNS)
