After the latest division within the Hurriyat Conference (M), its Pakistan Administered Kashmir (PAK) chapter has started taking initiatives for reconciliation, urging both the groups to reunite.

Sources close to Hurriyat (M) PAK chapter, told KNS that its executive council is waiting for a final nod from its PAK chapter so that a final decision in the regard could be taken.  Reliable sources informed KNS that the amalgam has postponed its scheduled executive committee meet council till November 9 so that the reconciliation of both the fragmented groups could be looked into.

“Mirwaiz Sahib has directed all the leaders of both general and executive council not to issue any statement or comment over the formation of third Hurriyat,” sources told KNS.

However, a senior Hurriyat (M) leader on the condition of anonymity told KNS that the reconciliation process is likely to fail and the reunion of both the divided groups seems impractical at present.

“Both the groups need each other as Shah and Khan are believed to be the ideologues of Hurriyat (M) and if they leave Huriyat (M), the amalgam is expected to face difficulties on ground. But the statements the two groups have issued in the recent past against each other can in no way reunite them again.”

The party sources further informed that the senior Hurriyat leaders have already emphasized that the fragmentation at present must be avoided and that further efforts in this regard are needed.

Shabir Shah and Nayeem Khan also refused to comment over the latest development and asked the correspondent to wait for some days.

Pertinently,  after the Mirwaiz shot a ‘secret letter’ to its Pakistan Administered Kashmir Chapter, Shah, Khan and Inquilabi Monday  came with the joint statement claiming that the elements within the ranks of Hurriyat Conference (M) have made the amalgam as ‘a personal fiefdom’. The leaders had also claimed to be the representatives of the ‘Real Hurriyat’.
