SRINAGAR

Hurriyat conference (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has demanded the removal of forces bunkers and camps from all the cities and towns of Kashmir.

Addressing Friday congregation in Srinagar, Mirwaiz said that the presence of Indian army personnel in the territory was one of the biggest causes of the agony of the Kashmiri people. He called for an end to brutalities by police and forces under draconian laws, Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) and Public Safety Act (PSA). He emphasized that the mortal remains of Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru, buried inside Delhi’s Tihar Jail be returned to the Kashmiris.

The authorities continued to place Hurriyat (G) Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik under house arrest. They were not allowed to offer Friday prayers.
