Hurriyat Conference (m) chairperson Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Monday took a jibe at Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti over her remark that “Kashmiri people protest and then come with a bowl asking for money”.

In a tweet, the Mirwaiz said that Kashmiri people were “no beggars” and that they didn’t need doles from the Government of India.

“do not need the largess or dole of Govt Of India to survive as @MehboobaMufti suggests and are no beggars,” tweeted Mirwaiz.

He said that people in Jammu and Kashmir had enough resources to prosper.

“Once we are our own masters our resources both human and natural are enough to make us prosper,” he said.

On Sunday, Mehbooba said that Kashmiri people beat their chests for months and then settle down again demanding waivers and incentives for the losses.

“We as a people have to ponder what we are doing. First, we protest then we come with a bowl asking for money,” she said.

“We start agitating on any issue particularly during the summer months, bringing all the activities to a standstill, which has hit our economy badly.”
