Mirwaiz Pays Tribute to Imam Khomeini on 36th Death Anniversary

   

SRINAGAR: Mirwaiz Kashmir Dr Molvi Mohammad Umar Farooq addressed a gathering at Imam Barah Bemina on Tuesday, organised by Aga Syed Mohammad Hadi Al-Moosavi Al-Safvi, on the 36th death anniversary of the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Ruhollah Khomeini (RA).

In his address, Mirwaiz paid tribute to Imam Khomeini and said his leadership had a lasting impact on the Muslim world. He said Imam Khomeini’s message of Muslim unity, resistance to injustice, and Islamic awareness continues to hold relevance.

Mirwaiz referred to Imam Khomeini’s emphasis on Sunni-Shia harmony and cited his statement that “those who stir conflict between Shia and Sunni are not from us.” He said sectarianism remains a tool used to divide Muslims.

He said that the 1979 Islamic Revolution marked a significant development in Islamic political movements and provided a model for those seeking justice. Mirwaiz reiterated Imam Khomeini’s call for unity among Muslim countries.

Speaking on current issues, Mirwaiz mentioned the situations in Palestine and Kashmir and said that lessons from Imam Khomeini’s life include rejecting division, supporting justice, and educating the younger generation in Islamic values. He said war and confrontation lead to instability, while dialogue and tolerance are necessary for peace.

Quoting Imam Khomeini, he said, “If Muslims unite, no power can defeat them.” He concluded by urging Muslims to remain united as instructed in the Qur’an.
