SRINAGAR: Security forces launched a search operation in the Saladhi area of Hiranagar in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district on Monday following reports of suspicious movement near the forest belt, officials said.
The operation was initiated after a local civilian reported spotting three unidentified individuals in the area. Acting on the input, security forces, including local police and paramilitary personnel, carried out a cordon-and-search operation to locate the suspects.
Officials said vigilance has been increased in the forested areas and along the adjoining highway to prevent any possible movement or infiltration. The operation was ongoing at the time of filing this report.
The sighting has caused concern among residents, and security forces have urged the public to remain alert and report any unusual activity. [KNT]
