While paying glowing tributes to the Hazrat Syed Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA) on his annual Urs sharief, Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who is currently under house detention, said the prominent religious figure brought a spiritual revolution in Kashmiri by imparting Islamic teaching and bringing in reforms in the society in tandem with the Islamic principles.

As per a statement Mirwaiz termed Syed Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA) as a great spiritual and religious leader who has always been revered and respected by the people of Kashmir and the Muslims Ummah.

The Hurriyat Chairman said that the Syed Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA) played a critical role in Kashmiri society by spreading moral and Islamic teachings. He said the sufi saint taught people about Islam, humanity, and asked them to be humane kind and be compassionate to each other.

Mirwaiz said Syed Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA) has ruled the hearts of Kashmiris since hundreds of years. He said his message of religion, love, brotherhood and humanity still finds resonance with the people. He said his teachings would hold true and would remain valid till the end of this world.

The Chairman has appealed people to strengthen the message of Syed Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA) and Prophet Muhammad (SAW) (PBUH) by emulating it and then spreading it to other people. Mirwaiz said the mission of sufi saint would only be fulfilled when people would follow his teachings regarding Islam, Koran, and Sunnat and then implement them in their lives to create a better society.
