Hurriyat Conference (m) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who continues to remain under house confinement, has paid rich tributes to Sheikh Abdul Aziz on his seventh martyrdom anniversary for his commitment, contributions and resolve towards freedom struggle.

In a statement, Mirwaiz said, “Shaheed-e-Azeemat, Sheikh Abdul Aziz spent his whole life seeking the exercise of right to self determination for Kashmiris and at the end sacrificed his life for the cause. Sheikh Aziz occupies unique distinction for his contributions in political and armed sphere towards the freedom struggle.”

“The commitment and resolve shown by Sheikh Aziz during his lifetime for the freedom struggle was exemplary, adding, the freedom struggle would only become successful, if we follow the path shown by the martyrs with zeal and zest,” he said.

Mirwaiz added, “freedom struggle can’t be suppressed by dint of military might, adding, the leadership of India has to accept the reality that coercion and military occupation won’t force the Kashmiris to abdicate their political aspirations.”

In connection with the seventh martyrdom anniversary of Sheikh Abdul Aziz, Hurriyat (m) leaders comprising of Musadiq Adil, Javaid Ahmad Mir, Engeer Hilal Ahmad War, Mushtaq Ahmad Sofi, GN Zaki, Jaffar Kashmiri, GN Mir, Hilal Ahmad Mir, Abdul Majeed Wani, Ghulam Hassan Mir and Fayaz Ahmad, Muhammad Shafi held a special prayers and tribute session to pay tributes to the great leader at Mazar-e-Shouda Eidgah Srinagar.

The session offered prayers for the leader and reiterated that freedom struggle would continue till the mission of martyrs is not achieved.

Meanwhile, Hurriyat (m) spokesperson condemned the continuous house arrest of Mirwaiz and arrest of Mukhtar Ahmad of Waza at Sangam to bar him from participating in the special prayer session to be held for Shaheed-e-Azmat.
