Addressing a gathering at Hanfia Wangan Pora, Iddgah Srinagar, Hurriyat Conference (m) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Tuesday detailed out the religious significance and benefits of Ramadan.
He stated that special attention has been given in Islam for the protecting the rights of the people.
Mirwaiz stated that to get maximum blessings in this holy month of Ramadan, people should check their materialistic urges, be kind to poor and needy, play their role in building a healthy society and render their services for protecting the rights of people.
Paying rich tributes to the two youth who were slain by troops during an encounter at Rudwani Kulgam, he sternly condemned the killing of civilian Asif Ahmad by government forces and pulverizing of the scores of houses by using indiscriminate fire power. He said the incident of killing and razing to ground public property should be thoroughly probed by an independent investigating agency.
Mirwaiz said the black laws like AFSPA, imposed in Kashmir since decades have become the main cause of innocent killings, bloodshed, and destruction of private and public property in Kashmir.
Terming the physical assault on residents of Rudwani Kulgam, ransacking of shops, and destroying of public property as an open display of ‘state sponsored terrorism’, Hurriyat (m) chairman sternly condemned the highhandedness of government forces against the people.
Mirwaiz said that magisterial inquiry called by the government into the Rudwani incident is a ploy to hide the crime of forces and divert the attention of international community. He said that hundreds of such inquires have been called into similar incidents, but such commissions end up in hiding the crimes of the culprits.
The Hurriyat (m) chairman appealed International Human Rights bodies to take strong notice of bloodshed and gross human rights violations committed by government forces in Kashmir, adding, they should stress upon India to stop state sponsored terrorism in Kashmir. He said that the political aspirations of Kashmiris can’t be suppressed by the military force.
