Government on Monday detained Hurriyat Conference (m) chairperson Mirwaiz Umar Farooq at her Nigeen residence, while octogenarian Hurriyat patriarch Syed Ali Geelnai continues to be under house detention since 2010.

Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front chairperson Muhammad Yasin Malik was arrested and lodged in central Jail, Srinagar.

Menwhile reports said that police late Sunday night arrested several Hurriyat Conference (g) leaders including Imtiyaz Haider, Muhammad Yasin Attai and Bashir Ahmad Bhat and lodged them in police station Budgam.

Pertinently, the resistance leaders have called for a complete shutdown on Monday to show solidarity with the prisoners lodged in different jails of Jammu and Kashmir and mainland India.

Authorities also imposed curfew-like restrictions in part of Downtown Srinagar to thwart attempts of protest. Paramilitary forces including cops of Jammu and Kashmir police have been deployed at all the entry and exit points of Downtown to restrict the movement in the area.
