Mirwaiz questions PDP-govt for repeatedly blocking Internet, closing educational institutes

Srinagar

Hurriyat Conference (m) chairperson, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Saturday said that harsh steps will not resolve the Kashmir problem.

Questioning the state government for repeatedly shutting down educational institutions and Internet services in Kashmir, Mirwaiz said blocking internet or closing colleges and schools will not contain the problem.

He said that last year during the uprising, PDP govt showed a great deal of concern about the education of Kashmiris, however, the government is shutting down the educational institutes randomly this year.

“Last year great deal of concern was shown by PDP Govt regarding the education of Kashmiri students (but) this year educational institutions are repeatedly shut down by them. Does it not matter now? Will Blocking internet repeatedly and randomly contain the problem? (sic),” Mirwaiz tweeted.

He also questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement in which he said “dialogue is the only way to resolve conflicts.”

“Apart from Kashmir I guess! where Govt of India’s is using its iron fist military approach to deal with a political problem,” he wrote in another tweet.
