SRINAGAR: Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Thursday appealed to authorities to allow jailed Member of Parliament Engineer Rashid to meet his critically ill father on humanitarian grounds.
The appeal was made after Mirwaiz visited Khazir Mohammad Sheikh, father of Engineer Rashid, at SMHS Hospital in Srinagar, where he is undergoing treatment.
Mirwaiz said the family was facing distress, noting that the ailing father wished to see his son during his critical condition.
He described the situation of families of detained individuals as painful and urged authorities to consider humanitarian aspects in such cases.
Mirwaiz also prayed for the speedy recovery of Khazir Mohammad Sheikh.
