Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq is consulting Syed Ali Geelani, chairman of another faction of Hurriyat to forge joint strategy.

“I will consult veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani to forge new strategy to counter New Delhi’s offensive against the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” Mirwaiz is reported to have said in a statement from Delhi.

Hurriyet(M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has said that New Delhi is at war with people of Jammu and Kashmir and added that Afzal Guru’s hanging has damaged the prospects of any dialogue with India.

Mirwaiz, who is under house arrest in New Delhi, is reported to have said in a statement that the APHC had been advocating for dialogue for over a decade “But New Delhi is at war with the people of Kashmir. By hanging Afzal Guru, New Delhi has damaged any prospects of future dialogue process”.

He said that dialogue “cannot take place alongside aggression. I don’t see any hope for dialogue.”

He said Afzal’s hanging will trigger widespread hatred against India among Kashmiri youth as it did after hanging of Maqbool Butt in 1984. “It might trigger another armed struggle,” he said.

“New forces may crop up and they will not listen to us. We too would be rendered irrelevant because the new forces would speak in a different language,” he warned.

“Once you push people to the wall they have no other way but to respond with equal aggression,” he cautioned.
He said they have written to the United States and other countries conveying how Indian “aggressive tactics is pushing youth of Jammu and Kashmir towards violence.”

Pertinent to mention that the separatist leaders  are in New Delhi where they have been put under house arrest
