The protestors were shouting slogans against the decision of Indian government to execute Guru.

Similar protests were carried out by Kashmiri students at Aligarh Muslim University. The campus resonated with anti-India and pro-freedom slogans with a large number of students participating in the peaceful demonstration.

According to eye witnesses, more than 400 students protested on Monday afternoon in Aligarh Muslim University campus. Raising slogans like “Afzal kai khoon sai inqaleeb aye ga,” and “We want freedom,” the students marched through the streets of Aligarh.

The students had earlier asked for permission from the Proctor of AMU which was denied to them. “We went to the university authorities, asking for the permission but it was denied. Despite that, we came out on the streets and raised our voice against the injustice done Afzal Guru and his family,” Umar Lateef, one of the protester told Kashmir Life.

Guru was hanged to death in New Delhi’s Tihar jail on Saturday morning for his involvement in 2001 Parliament Attack case in which nine people had died.

After his execution in Tihar jail, many human rights activist and opinion makers in India questioned the secret manner in which the hanging was carried out and the flaws in the trail that led to his execution.
