Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Pays Tribute to Imam Hussain, to Address Youm-e-Ashoora Gathering

   

SRINAGAR: Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Dr Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq on Wednesday paid rich tributes to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and the martyrs of Karbala, describing their sacrifice as an enduring symbol of courage, justice and steadfastness in the face of oppression.

In a statement, the Mirwaiz said Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), the beloved grandson of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), made an unparalleled sacrifice to uphold the fundamental principles of Islam and refused to submit to injustice, falsehood and tyranny.

He said the tragedy of Karbala remains one of the most defining chapters in Islamic and human history, offering timeless lessons in sacrifice, patience, moral responsibility and the pursuit of justice.

The Mirwaiz said the message of Karbala continues to inspire generations and serves as a reminder of the importance of standing firmly for truth and righteousness under all circumstances.

Meanwhile, continuing the centuries-old tradition of the Mirwaizeen, Dr Umar Farooq will deliver a special sermon on the occasion of Youm-e-Ashoora, the 10th day of Muharram-ul-Haram 1448 AH, corresponding to June 26, 2026, at Astan-e-Aaliya Alam Sahib in Narwara, Srinagar.

According to the announcement, the sermon will commence at 4:30 pm and continue until Asr prayers.

During the sermon, the Mirwaiz will highlight the significance and virtues of Youm-e-Ashoora and pay homage to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and the martyrs of Karbala. He will also lead collective prayers on the solemn occasion.

The public has been urged to participate in large numbers and benefit from the sermon and prayers.
