Soon after his release from house arrest since April 30, APHC (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Thursday visited the house of Bashir Ahmad Bhat at Gretabal, Nawakadal who was recently killed by the armed forces in unprovoked firing, a Hurriyat statement said.

“Expressing his sympathy and solidarity with the bereaved family members, Mirwaiz addressed a gathering at Nawakadal Chowk and told the people that priceless sacrifices offered by the Kashmiri people will be protected at any cost, adding that complete resolve and commitment towards the freedom struggle was inevitable for the success of movement,” the statement quoting Mirwaiz said.

“Stating that there were forces who wanted to break the will of the people through suppression and fear,” Mirwaiz said that these ploys have always failed  especially due to the continuous resolve shown by the brave youth of Kashmir who  are keeping the  freedom struggle alive in the most challenging of situations.

Mirwaiz stated that the people of Kashmir have given countless sacrifices towards the freedom struggle. “The people of Shehre Khaas have always provided new vigor to  the freedom struggle and  their contribution towards the freedom movement will always be remembered.”

Mirwaiz stated that the arrest of hundreds of youth and resistance leaders, continuous curfew and restrictions, under the cover of so called elections, has once again proved the anti people policy pursued by the “so called” elected leaders of Kashmir. He demanded the immediate release of all detainees.

Mirwaiz also visited SMHS hospital to enquire about, Momin Bilal of Maharajgunj, and Suhail Bashir of Hawal, who were injured due to firing by the government forces at Nawakadal. He also visited the house of injured Momin Farooq who lost his left eye due to pellet firing at Rajouri Kadal.
