Taking a strong exception to Hurriyat Conference(M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq’s assertion that BJP was better than UPA led government vis-à-vis taking initiatives on Kashmir issue, state CongressTuesday termed Mirwaiz’s opinion ‘prejudiced’ and ‘unreal’.
“Mirwaiz is wrong when he terms BJP government better for Kashmir than UPA. He is playing politics over graves but people here are very much aware of the history. The emotional politics has no space in the present world scenario,” Muzafar Parray, senior vice president Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee told KNS.
He added further that it was the Congress that provided moral support to the movement of the people of Kashmir against the ‘tyrannical’ Dogra rule. It was the courtesy of Congress that the state is enjoying special status. “How could the fact be undermined that Pandit Nehru was even arrested in Kashmir when he provided the entire moral support to the people here during the Dogra rule?”
Accusing that the separatist leadership here is fragmented on all grounds, Congress state vice-president maintained that the Hurriyat Leadership must unite for the sake of the greater cause and must initiate dialogue with Delhi for the Kashmir settlement. “They (separatists) have no common agenda. They must unite and talk to the Prime Minister for the lasting solution of the Kashmir problem.”
