A youth from Palhalan village of the North Kashmir was found dead at Kreeri area of Baramulla district three days after he went missing from his native village.

Police while confirming the death said that an Insas Rifle which was snatched from police some time back was also found near the body. “We have found a body in Kreeri and an Insas Rifle which was snatched from police on August 2 this year was also found near the body,” police spokesman told Kashmir Life adding, “further investigation is on.”

The locals said that Mudasir Ahmad Sofi, son of Late Abdul Gani Sofi  r/o Sofi Mohalla Palhalan was a first year student at Degree College Pattan and was missing for three days.

They said that Mudasir’s father was a militant and he was killed during an encounter with the forces years back.

Reports said that Mudasir’s body was found by the forces during a search operation at Kreeri village in the house of Mohd Ramzan Mir son of Ghulam Rasool Mir R/o Surayapura, Kreeri.

Meanwhile, shutters came down in Palhalan after the news about Mudasir reached the area. The locals alleged that Mudasir has been killed during a “fake encounter” in Kreeri.
