SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly member Sunil Bhardwaj is set to introduce a Private Member’s Bill seeking a statutory guarantee of employment opportunities for educated youth in the Union Territory.
The proposal, listed as L.A. Private Members’ Bill No. 58 of 2026, is among the business scheduled before the Assembly. Bhardwaj will seek the House’s leave to introduce the legislation.
The proposed Bill seeks to establish a statutory framework for providing employment opportunities to eligible educated youth. It also proposes financial assistance for eligible unemployed graduates, post-graduates, PhD holders and post-doctorates where employment cannot be provided within the prescribed period.
Bhardwaj is also listed to introduce the Bill in the House as part of the scheduled business.
The proposed legislation comes against the backdrop of continuing discussion in Jammu and Kashmir over unemployment among educated youth, employment opportunities and support mechanisms for qualified job seekers.
