SRINAGAR: MLA Pulwama Waheed-ur-Rehman Para on Sunday visited the family of Javaid Mansoor Rather, also known as Mubashir Mansoor, the Crime Branch photographer from Hari Parigam who was among the nine personnel killed in the accidental explosion at Nowgam Police Station earlier this week.

Para met the deceased’s parents, wife, and young daughter, offering condolences and assuring institutional support to the family. “Javaid was a dedicated professional and a humble soul. His service to the Crime Branch was invaluable. This tragedy has taken away a promising young man, and the entire Pulwama district mourns with the family,” he said.

A sombre atmosphere prevails in Hari Parigam, where residents gathered to remember Javaid as pious, hardworking, and deeply committed to his duties. His funeral prayers, held on Saturday, were attended by neighbours, community elders, and officers from the police and district administration.

Javaid was among the nine victims who lost their lives when seized explosives accidentally detonated during examination at the Nowgam Police Station. The incident has triggered widespread grief across the Valley.

Calling the deaths “a painful reminder of the risks our officers face even outside combat operations,” Para urged the government to provide immediate and long-term assistance to Javaid’s wife and child, over and above ex gratia relief. He also emphasised the need for stronger safety protocols for technical and investigation teams handling explosive materials.
