SRINAGAR: Mobile phone and internet services of all Cellular companies, barring Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), remained snapped in Kashmir for the second consecutive day on Friday.

“The government has asked us to keep the services suspended till further orders,” a top official of a leading cellular company said.

The internet service of Jio fiber, Airtel fiber and other local service providers were suspended since early Thursday morning. Mobile service of these companies has also remained suspended.However, BSNL mobile and broadband service were functioning though the speed is very low.

The services were suspended following death of senior separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani. Students and journalist were badly hit due to suspension of internet and mobile service.

The markets across all districts of Kashmir valley remained closed and roads also remained blocked with concertina wires and manned by the police.
