Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on Friday has warned that if “Delhi” tries to “break PDP”, then the öutcomes will be dangerous”.

Talking to reporters in Srinagar, Mehbooba Mufti said efforts by ‘New Delhi’ to break PDP will only increase trouble in the Valley and more separatists like Salahuddin and Yasin Malik would be born.

“If Delhi, tries to dismiss the voting rights of people like 1987, if it tries to create divisions & interfere like that then I think just like a Salahuddin and a Yasin Malik were born in 1987…if it tries to break PDP like that then outcomes will be dangerous (sic),” news agency ANI quoted Mufti as saying.

Reacting to Mehbooba’s statement, former Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah took a dig at the Opposition party, saying no one will ‘mourn its demise’.

“Let me put this out here for all to remember NOT ONE NEW MILITANT WILL BE CREATED WITH THE BREAK UP OF THE PDP. People will not mourn the demise of a party created in Delhi only to divide the votes of Kashmiris,” Omar Abdullah said in his tweet.

“She must really be desperate if she is threatening the centre with renewed militancy if PDP breaks up. She seems to have forgotten that militancy in Kashmir has already been reborn under her most able administration,” he added.

Ever since the BJP pulled out of the alliance with the PDP in Jammu and Kashmir last month resulting in the collapse of the Mehbooba government, speculations are rife that the saffron party is in touch with several PDP MLAs to form a new government in the state.

Several PDP leaders are said to be disgruntled by the party leadership demanding an end to the “two-family power-sharing model” in Jammu and Kashmir.
