The Forest Protection Force has seized more than 26 thousand Cfts of illicit timber during 2014-2015 as part of its patrolling and seizure operations.
Responding to a question by legislator Ajaz Ahmad Mir, government said that it established as many as 260 check posts in the state to keep a tab on the timber smuggling. In Jammu, 91 check posts were set up while 169 check posts were established in Kashmir region, government revealed.
The government said that illicit timber smuggled on 163 ponies/horses, 68 vehicles and 4 hand/cart/tool was seized during 2014-2015.
